DOMESTIC ENERGY SURVEYS (MBRO)
Questions & Answers
How much will my EPC cost? See costs in Terms & Conditions

When & how do I pay? We accept cash, cheque, BAC,s to be paid on Surveyors visit.

Can I pay later? Our EPC is very competitively priced and assumes a pay now basis.

My house is unregistered. Can you still provide a HIP? Yes we can but I will need to confirm the charges with my Third Party Provider . Where your house is unregistered, there is a slightly different procedure and a solicitor will need to examine the deeds to your home to check ‘title' and prepare a statement to confirm this.

Do I have to Purchase a Full HIP? No you are not commited to Purchasing a Full Hip you have the Option of just purchasing the EPC(Energy Performance Certificate) & completing the rest of the HIP on a DIY Basis.(the Kit is available online from www.lawpack.co.uk

My home is leasehold, is this problem? Not really but the HIP Preparation may take considerably longer & be more expensive. The government has announced transitional conditions in November 2007 because obtaining leasehold terms and conditions have proven to be problematic and sometimes costly. If you have a leasehold home, give us a ring.

How long will it take to get the pack? Some of the information required for the HIP comes from Local Authority/ Water board sources and can take as much as 10 days to receive. This time frame varies from Authority to Authority and can be influenced by time of year/ public holidays etc. Generally we can compile the HIP in 10 – 14 working days.

How will you get the HIP to me? The preferred method to supply the HIP is via electronic means. The pack can be ‘e' mailed or offered on a memory stick or other storage device  at extra costs(or a Paper Copy can be prepared for a payment of £20.00p)

Can I have a paper copy? The completed pack could comprise about 50 pages, some of which have coloured images. This is expensive, wasteful and time consuming for someone to copy. If you really want a paper copy, we can provide it (see details above).

You need to come to our home for a survey. Why? A required component of the HIP is an energy performance certificate. In order to produce the EPC, we need to accurately measure your home, be able to calculate floor area, identify outside/heat loss walls, record the type of boiler you have, how your heating is controlled, whether you have double glazing, how much insulation you have in the loft, etc. Clearly, this can only be done by visiting your home but should be completed in less than an hour
